Woke to 34 degrees and a promise of snow by 10am in McLean TX. So, took a shower, made coffee and packed up. I knew we wouldn't outrun it, but I wanted to be as far down the road as I could be.
With the weather being yucky I opted for an inside car pic of the leaning tower of TX.
Amarillo has a couple of really cool roadside things, but the only one I wanted to stop at today was the Slug Bug Ranch. It's a play at the Cadillac Ranch farther west on Route 66. It was really neat and would have been cooler about 30 degrees warmer, not windy and with the sun shining.
Then, the snow.
I crossed into New Mexico dreading the road. If you remember from last year this is when a pothole ate my front passenger tire and I had a fun adventure. But, I have to say, as long as you rode along one line or the other the road was in MUCH better shape.
Santa Rosa Lake State Park is my overnight. This is the ONLY repeat from last year. I loved this park last year so scheduled a night here again.
Poor desert plants aren't happy.
Be good. Have a good sleep and I'll see you on the road tomorrow.
